Sports Day Two Anthems

We are half way through our first term . Here is what we did today.

     

1 Shoulder hold.   Putting our violins in rest position we used our left hand on the underneath shoulder to put our violins in play position.

      

2. Balloon Bows to Irelands Call .  We use Down Bow retakes on D for this popular rugby song. we added some flag waving and some tremelo for a bit of added spice .

   

   3. Toreadors March  Another D and A tune . We learned how to read these notes on the stave . The notes are below. Are the notes on lines or spaces?   

     

 4.  Focus on brass . Today we took a closer look at the trumpet. Ms Julie Quinlan director of Waterford City Brass is a former student at our school.. Our guest today was Alice Foley on cello. 

Here is what we did today

We added in an accompaniment  based on open D and G strings

Touch Bass

Finally the day all the girls had been waiting for when we put our bows on the string.

We also met the double bass , the largest member of the string family. 

It also has GDAE strings but in the opposite order to the violin. EADG
